She studied mathematics, business and geography at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. After her graduation she worked two years as a teacher in high school. From 1999–2003 she was a business consultant with Accenture in the competence fields change management and human performance. Within this position she was engaged on change projects with Siemens, Vodafone, T-Online, Postbank and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg and was an internal faculty at the Center for Professional Education, St. Charles, USA. She received her Ph.D. ("Dr. oek.") in educational management of the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland in 2007
